Instructions for Submitting Teaching Cases

1. Register on the site, get an account and then login

2. Locate your dashboard block (on the right side of the page) and select MyDashboard

3. Once your "My Dashboard" pops up, select "Create Content" at either location as shown on the dashboard by the arrows.

 

4. You will be given options on the type of content you can create based on your involvement with IST. Click on "Teaching Case" as shown by the arrow.

5. Provide the title, name and institution information for all the authors associated with the Teaching Case

6. Upload Images as Figures

 

 IMPORTANT - Please remove patients name  or any other information that identify them!!
a.    There is no limit on the number of figures you can submit.
b.    If you have multimodality images of the case please submit all.
c.    Please show the abnormality with the help of arrow/arrowhead etc.
d.    The Images can be reformatted in Photoshop or Microsoft imager.
e.    Images of 300DBI are preferred.
f.    Please label your figures as Figure 1, 2 3 as needed. You can also have subparts to a figure, for example Figure 1A, and Figure 1B. This is limited to five subparts.

 Figure Legends Please write a figure legend for each figure. Remember one image is worth thousand words.

 

7. Provide description for your Teaching Case. Your teaching must contain the following sections

Clinical History
Please provide a brief and relevant history to the case you are about to submit.

Diagnosis

Please state the final diagnosis. If you have histopathology or gross image please include that in figures.

Discussion
This is the core or most important part of your submission. Please start your discussion  with:
a.    A sentence or two about the incidence of disease and why it is important to recognize it and how this case is unique ( If applicable)
b.    In your discussion- Please include plain film, CT, MRI, US, Nuclear scintigraphy or PET imaging findings if relevant to your case. It will vary from cases to case.
c.    There is no limit on how long a discussion should be, however one should be able to describe all relevant and pertinent findings within 1000 to 1500 words.
d.    Please cite your references in the discussion text. For example “ Mature cystic Teratoma is characterized by the presence of fat [1]. Please site the references in sequential order and limit them to 10.
e.    This required for the site to be indexed in Pub med. It generally takes about 2 years plus to be indexed after full functional website. When site is indexed all previously published body is automatically indexed.

References
a. Each reference must be cited numerically and listed in the order in which it appears in the text. When more than six authors are included in a single reference, et al replaces the names of all authors after the first three.

8. You can provide additional information or note to the Editors reviewing the Teaching Case. This is optional but this mechanism can be used to track revision while iterating with Editors if changes are required.

9. Saving the Teaching Case stores it as a draft in your workbench. To submit a case for review, click on the moderation button as shown below.

Once you hit the submit for review button, your case will be sent to the respective section editor for review. Please allow up to 72 hours for your case to be reviewed. Once the process of review is complete, one of the following will happen:      

1. Case approved with no changes.
2. Case needs corrections and authors have been advised to revise and resubmit.
3.  We will work with you and assist you in refining your case for re- submission.

You will be notified via an email regarding the status of your submission.

10. You can also view the status of your submission by checking your "My Dashboard"
